Everyone wants a deal.

I sit in rooms where talent is obvious.
Speed. Skill. Stats.
That’s the easy part.
What I’m looking at is everything else.
Can you handle pressure when it shifts overnight?
Can you stay consistent when no one is clapping?
Can you take feedback without folding?
Can you hold yourself when things don’t go your way?
Because contracts don’t build you.
They expose you.
And I’m not interested in placing athletes into environments they’re not ready to hold.
That’s not management. That’s damage.
My role isn’t just to open doors.
It’s to make sure you’re ready to walk through them and stay there.
The game can be a dream come true.
But it can also be over before you know it.
And it will ask more from you than you realise.
Do the work before you ask for what’s next.

Letting alignment guide decisions, not urgency.
Choosing relationships that feel grounded, reciprocal, and real… that are built over yarns and time, not just from pitches and resumes.
I’m listening differently now.
Not just to words, but to energy.
To what’s said… and what’s felt.
And the more I move this way, the more I realise, this isn’t something new. This isn’t a “soft” way of doing business.
This is ancient.
This is the way our old people led.
I feel it in my First Nations knowing.
I feel it in the stories carried through my Irish bloodline.
I feel it in my body.
So this season of leadership?
It’s less about becoming something new…
and more about remembering who I already am and whose DNA I carry.
What you know matters.
But who you know? That’s how things actually move. Let’s be honest about it.
In First Nations communities, connection has never been transactional.
It’s relational. It’s earned. It’s built through time, trust, and deep listening.
Maybe protection has shaped the modern understanding of our relational ways, but that’s another post.
So what if success isn’t about what you have…
but how connected you feel?
Connected to yourself first.
Then to the people, places, and communities that recognise your spirit.
We only say “it’s who you know” like it’s a bad thing
when we feel locked out.
But connection isn’t exclusion.
It’s responsibility.
So the real question is

or to create new circles, new communities, new opportunities?

Being an athlete taught me this early:
my performance was always the starting point.
If I wanted a good season, a high-performing season, I had to start with me.
Not just my physical training
but how I communicated.
How I regulated my emotions.
How I received feedback.
How I implemented it.
How I showed up after losses, not just wins.
What actually made the difference was falling in love with the process.
Getting better.
Learning.
Refining.
Again and again.
Because sport teaches you quickly there are more losses than wins.
So if you only love the outcome, you won’t last.
You have to love the work.
And business is no different.
Before the product.
Before the service.
Before the systems.
The work starts with you.
How you regulate.
How you pivot when plans fall apart.
How you lead people in and out.
How you hold your own emotions and other people’s.
How you take feedback from the market and move anyway.
Those skills are the foundation.
The work starts with you.
This is where a lot of athletes get caught out when they move into business.
We go from being in high-performance systems…
to thinking we are the system.
Elite. Disciplined. Mentally tough.
So we assume we can transfer straight into business and just dominate.
But here’s the truth people don’t like to hear:
You were never doing it alone.
There was a coach.
A strength coach.
A physio.
A mindset coach.
Analysts.
Support staff.
A whole structure built around your performance.
Then athletes step into business and suddenly try to do everything solo.
No coach, no mentors, no skill specialists, no strategy support
and call it “independence.”
That’s not independence.
That’s ego.
High performance didn’t come from talent.
It came from learning.
From being coached.
From feedback.
From staying a student of the game.
Business is no different.
There is a whole new field to learn.
New rules.
New systems.
New skills.
New positions.
And just like in sport, you don’t need to play every role
you need to build a team around you who are elite in theirs.
Athletes aren’t scared of work.
But this transition requires humility.
It requires going back to basics.
It requires choosing to be coached again.
Because elite mindsets don’t say “I’ve got this.”
They say, “Who needs to be on my field?”
We don’t talk enough about how family dynamics shape women.
Not just our emotions
but our leadership.

while still carrying roles, loyalties, guilt and expectations that were never theirs to hold.

And I’ll repeat it:
Do not dim your freaking light.
Growth isn’t neutral.
It shifts things. It challenges dynamics. It changes how you’re seen.
You’re not out here to intentionally upset anyone.
But if you’re truly chasing what’s on your heart…
some people are going to feel uncomfortable.
Not because you’re doing something wrong
but because your growth confronts places they haven’t been willing to go.
And alongside that discomfort, there will also be people who feel inspired.
Energised.
That’s the reality of growth.
There are growing pains.
There is tension.
There is expansion.
The work is to keep letting your light be seen.
To keep moving toward the dream even when it gets hard, lonely, or misunderstood.
Because the same light that unsettles some…
will be exactly what guides others!
I am yet to meet a woman who isn’t sitting on a brilliant idea.
Most women don’t need more prep.
They need connection.
They need women who’ve gone before them.
They need someone to say, “You can start now.”

As an athlete, I was taught this early:
Don’t get stuck in your feelings.
Go to the data.
Analyse strong performance first.

When results exceed expectations, don’t get complacent, study why it worked.

Review the numbers.
Assess what actually happened, not the story in your head.

This process has followed me into:

It turns “I feel like I’m failing” into

Our work isn’t just for our own communities, it’s often the foundation that drives our purpose but we have limitless potential and capacity for those who are ready build with us, alongside us, listen to us, by led by us.
When we stop putting people into boxes and start seeing that opportunity belongs to all of us, we shift what’s possible.
So yes, I work with all women.
Because I belong to more than one story, more than one place, more than one identity.
